How much will a base 340hp F-Type eventually be worth when it hits rock bottom on depreciation curve?

The F-type is one of my favorite Jags of all time, especially in bright orange, and especially as a convert ible.

Just a wild guess, but I’ll say 12-15k.

$10k in 2035.
I look forward to finding this post 2 decades from now to see how close I was.

Well, you can find decent looking XK8s (which was significantly more expensive at launch (inflation adjusted) than the F-Type from what I can tell), starting around $5000, and tons below $10,000 (some are as low as $3000) . If we assume that they will depreciate similarly, they’ll bottom out around $7,500 to $15,000 (again taking inflation into account, things will be more expensive then). Of course if they are seen as reliable, they might not decline as steeply, but we are talking about a Jaguar, so what’s the chance of that?

Part of me thinks this will depend on long-term reliability and repair costs. If these follow the historical running costs and not recommended as an only car reliability of used jags, then I think they’ll end up sub 20 k, cross shopped with a 10-15 year old corvette category for a fun weekend car at some point. If they manage to prove reli able and don’t require huge sums of money to keep running beyond consumables, I think they might be pretty enough and special enough to stay pretty valuable.

I tend to agree but at the same time I wonder if the name f-type will inherently give it high value on the used market.

I think I could agree to that (inflation adjusted)

Base? Why base?
I’d think the S would be similarly priced and after a year or two those got a manual.
Manual F Type > all other F types

I don’t really think so. I don’t feel like the E-type mythos has rubbed off on it. And certainly just being a “type” has done nothing for the X-type and S-type. The F-type is a cool car, but then so was the XK. I think the big factor is going to be how much people feel like they are going to have to spend to maintain them as they age.

Haha, this a reminder on Android?
I appreciate the effort you took to get to 2038.

Find out in 20 years.

I was just trying to determine what would be lowest of the low

I bet in 15-20 years you can have one for under $12k
